Developing an intensive IT curriculum model for the employment of hearing-impaired person

Abstract

This paper introduced a new model of intensive IT curriculum for hearing-impaired person in order to get a job in the field of IT. Even though IT is a good area for hearing-impaired person, it has very low percentage of employment. The main reason is intensive IT educational curriculum is based on those who has not difficulties in hearing, but not based on hearing disabilities. Therefore this study suggest a model of intensive IT curriculum for those hearing difficulties. First, I have been analysed the curriculum of the educational institutions and derived courses in the IT area. Second, by using Delphi Method, the selected courses were analysed and designed by the professionalists in the field of IT over 5 years experiences. Finally, the designed intensive IT curriculum model has been tested by 15 hearing-impaired persons and some suggestions were derived.
